As per various reports, Putin is battling cancer and suffering from Parkinson’s disease, and his health is deteriorating rapidly. Vladimir Putin’s health update Putin’s health claims came after the Russian President canceled the annual press conference. The cancellation, which was announced by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, was the first time in ten years, and led to reports that Putin may be unwell. Another report from Valery Solovey, a political analyst, suggests that Putin’s health may be deteriorating because of different health diseases, such as schizoaffective disorder and cancer....

Russia’s state-run news agency RIA Novosti said that Melitopol’s de facto Deputy Sports Minister Andrei Boyko had been hospitalized following a blast on Friday morning. “A directed explosion was carried out with the aim of killing him,” Vladimir Rogov, an official in the Russian-backed administration of the Zaporizhzhia region, told the news agency. “An improvised explosive device went off in a residential building in the courtyard of a multi-story building, where many civilians could be affected,” he said....

The directorate said that Melitopol’s Russian “occupation administration” is now urgently trying to source more freezers and industrial refrigerators to store its dead because the meatpacking plant can’t fit additional bodies. Russia’s purported efforts to find enough storage for the overwhelming numbers of the dead came as Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree Thursday ordering more than 134,000 new conscripts into the army. While Russia’s Defense Ministry denied that the conscripts had been drafted for the Russia-Ukraine War, even though it admitted in March that some conscripts were involved in the offensive, Ukraine’s report suggests that Russia may be facing high manpower losses....

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said on Friday that Russian forces had conducted assault operations in Bakhmut itself and to the north and south of the city in the Donetsk oblast, which is the center of fierce fighting. The ISW cited reports from Russian Telegram accounts that Ukraine’s forces had “suffered heavy losses” and that Moscow’s troops had struck forward Ukrainian positions northeast of the city....

In an update on Saturday, the Ukrainian defense ministry said that 530 Russian troops had been killed over the previous 24 hours, taking the total since the war began on February 24, 2022 to 110,250. The update also said that 23 tanks and 16 armored vehicles had been destroyed, taking the total number of losses to those pieces of equipment to 3,064 and 6,124 respectively. Ukraine describes the unverified figures, which Newsweek has contacted the Russian defense ministry about, as “approximate”, and they are far lower than western estimates....

When Putin’s troops crossed the Russia-Ukraine border on February 24, 2022, Kremlin officials justified the provocation by saying its campaign sought to eliminate “neo-Nazis” in the country, and that Russia had “no choice” but to protect Russians living in Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions. But last month, as Russia faced staggering losses and military setbacks, the Russian leader called the conflict a “war” for the first time since the invasion began....

Claiming his country had “no other way,” Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to invade Ukraine and launched missiles at cities across the country early Thursday morning. Putin denied he wants to “occupy” Ukraine, but the violence is likely to escalate, potentially pitting Russia’s allies against Western countries. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a Putin-backed politician, denied his country’s troops were taking part in the invasion, although Russian troops accessed Ukraine through Belarus....

In its daily intelligence update on the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine, the U.K.’s defense ministry said Russia’s capability to counter the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has likely been severely weakened as a result of the casualties it has sustained in Kyiv’s push to retake the Kharkiv Oblast (province). “Elements of the Russian forces withdrawn from Kharkiv Oblast over the last week were from the 1st Guards Tank Army (1 GTA), which are subordinate to the Western Military District (WEMD),” it said in a tweet Tuesday....

At a U.N. Security Council meeting last week, the three countries accused Russian military contractors of killing civilians and looting homes during the conflict in CAR earlier this year. A U.N. Security Council report was cited on Sunday by the New York Times with the same accusations. The report accused the Russians and Central African armed forces of human rights violations which “included cases of excessive force, indiscriminate killings, occupation of schools and looting on a large scale, including of humanitarian organizations....

After a medical and creative selection, the State Commission recommended actor Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko as the primary crew for the film. The expedition is planned to launch in the fall, and Peresild and Shipenko, as well as a backup crew, will begin training in June. The movie’s tentative title is Challenge, according to the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities, the Russian agency responsible for the space program....

“Charges relating to crowd disturbances, use of fireworks and racist behaviour had been brought against the RFU (Russian Football Union),” UEFA said in a statement. Deputy Mayor Anastasia Rakova said that nearly 70 percent of medical workers, 66 percent of employees in education facilities and 76 percent of social workers in Moscow have been vaccinated. All three sectors met the threshold set by authorities a month ago which required eligible companies and institutions to ensure 60 percent of their staff have received at least one shot by July 15. Businesses and institutions must then make sure 60 percent of staff have been fully vaccinated by Aug....

AC Milan are considering a bid for Memphis Depay after Gerard Deulofeu was taken off the market, according to Tuttosport. Milan hoped to close out a deal for out-of-favour Everton winger Deulofeu - who, in turn, looked set to be replaced at Goodison Park by Manchester United outcast Memphis. But the Toffees have been unable to negotiate a move for the Dutchman and now look set to keep Deulofeu as a result, with Yannick Bolasie and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both injured....
