The July 22nd update is titled RuneScape 3, and will move away from the Java format the game was previously tethered to. Using HTML5 specifically allows for a wider range of compatibility with browsers, and ensures smoother graphics processing with better support for GPU hardware. The virtual world of Gielinor enters its sixth age with the new game, receiving several anticipated updates as well.
Players can become a more integral part of the world and its inhabitants, changing the course of Gielinor’s history in large-scale events. Phil Mansell, Executive Producer of RuneScape 3:
RuneScape has a long and interesting history, its community having survived over 12 years despite fierce competition in the MMO market, and an acquired notoriety of game-related exploits and bugs. Jagex hopes to build on its previous success and breathe new life into the game with its RuneScape 3 update, which may soon become available for tablets and other mobile devices in the near future. For now, players hoping to get in on the action can sign up for the recently opened beta. So Ranters, are you ready to take your MMO experience to the next level?
